Alone

Spirit full of longing,
Why do you keep my heart so strongly thronging?

I sit here curled up tight,
My feelings to no one I’ll recite.

The pain of being alone,
Has gnawed down to the bone.

What once stood proud in form and stance,
Quickly withered to a skeletal trance.

The spirit is hardened, the body worn thin,
Who can fight against this fading within.
