You knead the clay from hard to soft,
And mould it to an ego loft.
You sift the chaff from chaff once more,
Then perch yourself on Zion’s shore.

You break the table’s sacred plane,
And carve your name in bold disdain.
You creep behind your own facade,
And leap astride the final god.

You raise your wolf to a wild bark,
Then trade your brother for lentil spark.
You pluck the Christ from cursed wood,
And crown Him with a crimson hood.

With finger poised upon the trigger,
You melt the Arctic, make Hell bigger.
Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin—
Pause and think before your sin.

For palm fronds burn on starry sands,
And from the hunchback’s jagged lands,
The dregs of time’s fine, falling grains
Slip through eternity’s weathered veins.

Inspired by the poem named 'egogebod van ‘n politigod' by Pieter van Rooyen.
