With humble hearts, we dedicate
Our child to You, O Lord, who's great
You are the one who controls everything
In Your hands, our child we bring

Please help our child in his need
Give us our daily bread to feed
Forgive us our sins, cleanse our soul
Our faith is weak, please make us whole

Heal our child's wounds, soothe his pain
As sinful people, we feel the strain
Fill us with courage to the farthest limits
In You, we trust, as our hope pivots

Through the valley of the shadow of death
Lord, You control our child's woe, every breath
In You is all our trust, we surrender
Our child, please keep, with Your love so tender

Give our child strength to live each day
Hear all our prayers, as we humbly say
Help us through this time, as we hold on tight
Give our child strength in the fight

Father, You alone are in control
To You comes all the glory, as we console
Our child in Your arms, we lay
With You, we find peace and stay.

Synopsis:
On 18 January 2000, we almost lost Gertjie, or Garry as we know him today, after he was involved in a very serious accident. The following two poems found their way out of my heart during a few uncertain nights at that time, when we were deeply unsure whether Garry would survive.
We are incredibly grateful that he did survive and cherish every moment today with our two beautiful sons. Thank you for every moment shared with you. You are the very centre of your mother’s and my hearts.
