Beneath the banner of freedom’s fight, Lies greed and deceit in the depth of night. Apartheid has fallen, or so they claim, Yet the power persists, now dressed in a new name.
The strong survive, the weak they fall, Predator’s control decides it all. The rulers guard their treasures and gold, While poverty grips masses in the cold.
Comrades feast on the nation’s bread, Their wealth expands, while the poor are misled. The land, once watered by struggle’s tears, Is plundered now by privateers.
False promises sold with a deceitful grin, Dreams betrayed as lies creep in. Blood and riches rule the day, While freedom drifts further away.
Oh, South Africa, how far you’ve strayed, From freedom’s hope to greed’s cruel shade. When will the chains of tyranny break? Till then, greed will reign, and hearts still ache.
Welcome to My Lasting Minutes. Here I share my poetry, stories, songs, and reflections on life. My hope is to turn a minute of thought into something that outlasts me — and leaves behind something worth remembering.
