Clouds hang heavy over a village in the Free State,
In a deserted room, he sits, lost in fate

The clouds growl, like an animal in the wild
He wonders if she still thinks of him, like a child

The wind picks up, blowing through the trees
He wonders what she's doing in Mossel Bay, at ease

Flashes of white, followed by sudden lightning
A tear rolls down his cheek, his heart still fighting

Driving rain, pelting the earth, deep and dry
He flows with the rivers, asking why oh why

Sleep takes over, invading his thoughts
A new day, a chance to try, he sought

Then the sun breaks through, shining bright
A new dawn, a glimmer of hope, a sight

The little ones outside, singing in joy and glee
A new day, a fresh start, for him to be free.
